Vanessa Zurita Rufer

J.D. with concentration in taxation.

I’m Vanessa. I grew up in Santa Paula, California. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a small town in Ventura County. If you’ve never heard of Ventura County, it’s a coastal county sandwiched between LA and Santa Barbara. I grew up with my four siblings and parents and we are proud to be Mexican-American.

I went to UC San Diego where I majored in Jazz & the African Diaspora. After a few years of working, volunteering, and soul searching I decided the next step would be to attend law school. I moved to the Bay Area in 2016 to attend UC Hastings, College of the Law in San Francisco. I graduated in May 2019 with my J.D. and a Concentration in Tax. Today I am a senior tax associate at an accounting firm in Los Angeles.
